Abstract
Islamic creed (ʿaqīdah) is the basis of religion, the core of Islamic identity, and the driving force behind the movement of civilization and ʿumrān (social and economic development). Abdul Majid al-Najjar’s article addresses the method of rectifying the Ummah's creedal understanding so that it may carryout civilizational advancement in the face of ongoing challenges. It addresses, moreover, the proper understanding of creed and its sources of comprehending its meanings and terminologies. It then examines the comprehensive contextualization of creed, creedal contextualization of thought and action, the voluntary activation of creed, the proper understanding of creedal affirmation, the spiritual revival of creed, and the process of properly understanding creed in civilization building, all in an effort to return the Ummah back to a sensible understanding of creed that would enable it towards ʿumrān.
