Abstract

Abu Yarub al-Marzouqi’s article discusses many aspects identified by Ibn Khaldūn in his Muqadimmah, including: the principle of unity, the principle of prioritizing and arranging issues, principles of the unity of theoretical purpose he wishes to achieve, and a discussion of these principles. The article focuses on the unity and foundational depth of the Muqadimmah in light of two aspects: 1) the question of moral and material unity of the Muqadimmah, including the means of addressing its unity, and 2) epistemologically identifying the moral and material unity of the Muqadimmah. It concludes with a discussion of the two concepts: economic efficiency and organic efficiency.
