Abstract
Anas al-Sheikh Ali explores the features of the image of Islam and Muslims as portrayed in popular fiction in both Britain and America, and documents and evaluates anti-Islam sentiment in these narratives. His article explains the purpose of the study and its timeframe, the types of popular novels and their impact on Western readers, and discusses the image of Islam and Muslims as it emerges from this literature. It examines the texts of several novels dealing with this problematic issue and explains the relationship between the popular novels and the purposes of art and political motives, calling for a balanced vision and establishment of a civilized dialogue between the West and Islam.
