Abstract
Eltigani A. Hamid’s article aims to identify the rules of political doctrine as presented by the Qur’an and attempts to develop a suitable methodology for dealing with it. His study provides a prelude to the science of tafsīr (Qur’anic exegesis), how it is confined to linguistic aspects, the Kharijites insistence on an exoteric reading of scriptural text, and the departure of the Muʿtazilites from exoteric meanings of the text to allegorical interpretation. The study discusses politics and political themes, and how the political system was established based on consensus. It presents means of analyzing and compounding Qur’anic concepts, explains the holistic model and how it is extracted methodologically from Qur’anic texts, and the processes of hermeneutical interpretation and the extent of conformity between the meanings of revelation and signs of existence.
