Abstract
Najm al-Din al-Zinki’s article discusses the close tafsīrī (Qur’anic exegesis) relationship between the theories of context and maqāṣid (objectives), focusing on the meanings of both terms and the overlapping fields associated with them. The introduction discusses the role of researchers - classical and contemporary - in the study of maqāṣid thought. The article then focuses on four central points: expounding on the topic and its terms; building systems and its relationship with the maqāṣid; the uṣūlī view of contextualized rulings and its impact in understanding the maqāṣid and interpreting them; and analytical perceptions in the relationship between maqāṣid and context.
