Abstract

Çorim Suad’s article is a study in the concept of tafsīr (exegesis) of the Qur’an by the Qur’an, through an analysis of the terms, utilizing linguistics in extracting the characteristics of the Qur’an and the characteristics of its tafsīr. The study attempts to approach essential problems related to tafsīr in general, and to tafsīr of the Qur’an by the Qur’an in particular. It addresses ta’ṣīl (a framework established upon referral to principal Islamic sources) and the methodology of dealing with this type of tafsīr, and presents ways to explore its procedural tools and means of employing them. The study is comprised of two parts, the first part addresses the concept of tafsīr of the Qur’an by the Qur’an, and the second part focuses on methodology.
