Abstract
This article examines one possible relationship between the humanities and contemporary technologies, as represented—at least—in two main perspectives. The first concerns a form of “moral closure” toward the use of such systems, driven by fears of risks and threats associated with their applications. The second perspective involves a “positive openness” to these systems and an exploration of mechanisms for their creative and beneficial use. Because this article belongs to the field of philosophical studies, its significance lies in its attempt to shed light on the philosophical, social, ethical, and legal dimensions of this relationship. In conclusion, the article considers two regulatory models that address approaches to engaging with artificial intelligence and confronting its human-related challenges: The first model, from Europe, was issued in May 2024 as a collective report prepared by a group of experts and adopted by the Estonian Information Systems Authority. The second model, from the United States, is known as the Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0), released in January 2023 by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
