Abstract
This study aims to investigate a specific aspect of the civilizational thought of Malek Bennabi and to reveal how he utilizes the semantics of the legal text to establish his intellectual project. Bennabi relies in this on deep consideration of the meaning of the Qur’anic verses and the Hadiths, in order to derive psychological and intellectual incentives, as well as methodological and cultural foundations that might contribute to the ending of the nation’s state of civilizational wandering, and the beginning of a new civilizational cycle. Having located such reflections in Bennabi’s thought, we then classified and documented them systematically, presenting his thought on civilization with supportive references from the legal texts. In addition, the uniqueness and distinctive features of his views are highlighted.
