Abstract
Ibrahim Abd al-Baqi’s article discusses Muhammad Abduh from a political dimension. Abduh had engaged strongly in political affairs, and had many opinions and activities in that regard, stemming from his recognition of the importance of involvement in the political arena for the Arab and Muslim Ummah to overcome an intellectual civilizational crisis. Studying the political dimension of Muhammad Abduh thought is important for understanding the reality of Islamic movements that have adopted his political stances in their work. His article treats the conditions surrounding Abduh’s upbringing, factors influencing his fiqh thought, his political opinions and fatwas, and his relationship with the regime.
