Abstract
Abu Yarub al-Marzouqi’s article is a study of a speech given by Pope Benedict XVI entitled “Faith, Reason and the University.” He tells us that the speaker (the Pope) has the qualifications of a university professor, head of state, thinker, and head of a spiritual organization (the Vatican), and that these are titles in which the speaker is expected to present a model lesson in the topic chosen, which is to speak on the core essence of faith and reason (a critical topic confronting humanity). The study provides the lecture plan and its logic, discussing the speaker’s technical flaws and mistakes in content. The speech is characterized by a rationalization for a racist adversarial position.
