Abstract

Luqman Bouqara’s article discusses the foundations of understanding traditional texts and analyzing them in light of the principle of Islamization of knowledge, while referencing classical scholars including linguists, exegetes, legal theorists, and the majority of mujtahids in Islamic thought. This may be considered an important aspect for the development of expository pragmatic thought in general and of analyzing various texts. The article introduces the concept of expository pragmatics and how it is understood in modern linguistic thought, expository pragmatic thinking in Arabic tradition (expository linguistic pragmatics, the approach of Qur'anic commentators, scholars of Qur'anic studies, and the uṣūlī approach), in addition to discussing uṣūlī theological approaches.
