Abstract
Oudeh Khalil Abu Oudeh’s article presents a practical approach to learning eloquence using examples from the Qur'an. A number of linguistic patterns are intertwined in the composition of this approach; linguistic patterns which reveal the types and secrets of eloquence (e.g., syntactic structure; preposing (taqdīm) and postposing (ta’khīr); deleted (ḥadhf) and stated (dhikr); definiteness (taʿrīf) and indefiniteness (tankīr); difference in formulating verb tenses, singular, dual, and plural usage, etc.), in addition to rhetorical features of the Qur’an which inspire poets and writers who revere the Qur’an as a literary masterpiece.
