Abstract

Hisham al-Makki’s article discusses media representation and how it is a methodological instrument or means in the age of globalization.  The article aims to regain the status of the Arabic language, and warn of the dangers that the language faces from media representation. It presents a brief introduction to media representation, followed by some critical reflections in the preoccupation of media representation, and then discusses language as a different cognitive pattern. The conclusion focuses on the regression of the language because of media representation, and the regression of reading abilities among children, and the role of the Arabic language as a guarantor of our humanity.
