Aims & Scope

The Vision and Aims of the Journal

The Journal offers an open platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, which aims to:

  • Facilitate methodological reform in Muslim thought to introduce and develop the concept and practice of ijtihad as a decision-making tool for the betterment of life in general;
  • Promote awareness, research, and education in Muslim societies; and
  • Formulate critical academic methodologies, tools, and policies which respond to the ongoing breakthroughs in human knowledge as a whole and which support and drive the revision and investment of Islamic knowledge.

The Journal offers a thematic approach to achieving these aims, focusing on:

  • Knowledge creation, research and development, transfer and management facilitated by a comprehensive methodological vision of thought and research;
  • Education and academic research in Muslim societies, and the development of educational tools, mechanisms, methodologies, and policies; and
  • Development of scientific and critical methodologies that address foundational principles and Islamic and human heritage, and which reflect the capacity of Islamic thought to deal effectively with the various fields of human knowledge.
